Love: Jonathan and David

Who was David’s best friend?

Did you know that his best friend was Jonathan, the son of King Saul?
Read Samuel Chapter 20.

Jonathan’s dad was a king. And he didn’t like Jonathan’s friend David. David was afraid so he wanted to run away, but Jonathan told him to wait until he talked to his dad the king, and then meet him later. Jonathan told David to hide behind a rock and wait for a secret message. They decided since Jonathan was a prince and had a helper, it would be a good idea for Jonathan to shoot arrows and talk to his helper. David would stay behind the rock and listen to what they said. If Jonathan said, “look, the arrows are beside you,” to his helper, it would mean David could come out, he would be safe. But if Jonathan said “No, the arrows are farther beyond you”, then that would mean David should run away because the king wanted to kill him. Jonathan and his dad were talked about David and his dad got really mad. Jonathan was sad because he knew he would have to tell David to run away.

Read 1 Samuel 20:35-42. Jonathan must have loved David to protect him from his father the king, Jesus wants us to have that kind of love in our hearts.

Growing Up

Topic: Spiritual Growth/spiritual fruits (love peace joy longsuffering)-PART 1

Can you believe it’s already April, this year is going by so fast! As time goes by, we get older. We go from newborns that drink bottles, to toddlers learning to walk, then to students learning math and science. The older we get we learn to like new things.

We get rid of our building blocks………

and get leggos

We also learn more about manners and rules. We are given tests in school to give proof of what we learn.

The same thing happens with our spiritual life. The more we learn about God, the more we learn about how He wants us to live. How do we show we are learning and growing spiritually? By our attitudes and actions. The Bible tells us that they will know us by our fruits.

In Galatians 5:22, it lists the fruits that we should be showing.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”

Just Like Green Eggs and Ham

Sometimes that's the same way it is for us when we try something new. Doing things we don't like is difficult.

But have you ever said NO to something that is supposed to be good for you?

Like if your mom tells you to eat your peas, or if your dad tells you to do your homework and go to bed early.

It is hard to study and go to bed early, but if we do, we will do good on our tests and feel rested for the next day at school.

We were all created to worship God. One of the ways to know more about Him is to study the Bible.

Studying the Bible may seem difficult, hard, boring, or even new for us. But if we give it a try there are so many wonderful things we learn that will help us every day. Read Psalm 199:11, 47, 97. 105, and 140.

The Bible gives us instructions for how to act, proof of miracles, and tells about the Awesomeness of God's creation.

Our studying, praying, and being obedient leads us to become better Christians, and one day we will live in Heaven and get to see Jesus face to face!

We may not think we like to study or pray

But when walking the right path it helps us obey

No its not green eggs and ham

But we can spiritually grow, Yes we can.

Sharing God's Love

Valentine's Day is a time for showing our friends and families we love them by giving them cards and candy.
But we should show our love and appreciation everyday!

That's what God does for us! He shares His love with us everyday! Isn't that awesome.

His greatest sacrifice (when He died for our sins) + His greatest Gift (the gift of the Holy Ghost) + His greatest promise (Heaven) = Gods Love Supersized.

So go share God's love with someone today.

Here are some scriptures you can use to prove God's love to others.

Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us

His greatest sacrifice:

+Romans 5:8 But God commandeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

+John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

His greatest gift:

+Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

+Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

His greatest promise:

+John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.


God's Love Supersized:

+John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

+John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

+John 12:35 By this shall all know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

+John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
